This week-long retreat led by Dr Vesna Lemm is dedicated to healing you from inside out, giving a full reset of your body and mind. Dr Vesna Lemm is a medical doctor specialising in detox (heavy metal & pesticides), nutrition therapies, traditional Chinese medicine and functional medicine. Dr Lemm’s mission for the retreat is to share her passion and wisdom about the human body and holistic health that she has gained throughout 40 years of her career, as well as to provide you with practical tools to help you maintain and improve your health in the long term. You will have access to some of the most powerful detox techniques as well as crucial information surrounding health areas that are still not commonly known.
A letter from Dr Vesna Lemm
“I had been suffering from various diseases and chronic conditions from a very young age. I sought help from a number of doctors but always came back with empty hands. It wasn’t until I found out about the detrimental impacts heavy metals and inaccurate diet can have on one’s health that I was able to cure my complex health conditions. After thoroughly detoxing my body from the accumulated heavy metals, changing my diet, repairing my gut and eventually getting my overall health back on track, I had a burning motivation to study heavy metals, nutrition and their influence on health. After treating hundreds of patients through holistic medicinal techniques, I have also understood the power of combining Western and Eastern practises in thoroughly healing patients. Now I feel a strong urge to spread my knowledge and awareness about the detrimental impact of heavy metals and other toxins as well as the importance of nutrition, gut health and detoxing.”

HEALTH & DETOX
Life is becoming ever more busy, overloaded with information exposure, societal pressure and unhappiness. People are living longer but they are suffering from stress and various chronic health conditions including autoimmune diseases, mental health disorders and chronically low energy levels more than ever before. Fortunately, the cure for these can often be found by changing our lifestyle and using holistic approaches, but with the information overload we get easily lost when searching for answers and taking a pill seems to be the “solution” for any problem. However, to fully heal ourselves, we need to inspect our symptoms carefully, find the root cause of the issues and tackle it as a whole.
After treating hundreds of patients suffering from autoimmune diseases and other health issues at her own clinic, Dr Lemm knows how vital the role of adequate nutrition and the detox of heavy metals is in the healing process. Dr Lemm has also learnt how much our gut health influences our brain and therefore our mental health.
Detoxing the body is a great place to start healing ourselves from the constant stressors we face daily. Detoxing methods can be very complex and difficult to understand but retreat is created to help you become your own doctor and understand the key concepts and knowledge about detoxing & health as well as gaining practical tools to continue detoxing at home so you can flourish into the best version of yourself.
MOVEMENT & HEALING PRACTICES
Stress significantly decreases our overall physical and mental health and it can become chronic, in which case your body is continuously in the sympathetic nervous system and in an ongoing fight or flight – state. This state is incredibly taxing to your body and results in high blood pressure, weakened immunity, increased anxiety, and it can eventually lead to a total burn out. Therefore, it is absolutely crucial to learn to control stress.
One of the most powerful tools Dr Lemm has found is the practice of yoga. Yoga works by training the body to return back to the parasympathetic nervous system (rest state) making it the dominant state of the body, whilst moving away from the sympathetic nervous system. Once the body learns to repeatedly come back to the resting state during the yoga practice, you’ll shortly notice that this will also start to happen outside the yoga practice.
At Mahakala, our mission is to show that yoga is for everyone, no matter how flexible you are or how much experience you have. It is not about moving your body in a complicated way, but rather about finding the union of the mind, body and spirit. We want to offer you a chance to rejuvenate your body and mind form everyday stressors and find your inner peace. We are here to support you along the way, providing you with practical skills that you can continue to use once you return home. To do this effectively, we combine traditional yoga practises with modern scientific and neuroscience based knowledge.
THE PLACE “Mahakala Retreats”
Our homely centre is located in the small seaside village of Buljarica in Montenegro, cradled by the mountains and the Adriatic Sea. Surrounded by the four elements of earth, air, sun and water, the setting provides an optimal space for healing. Located on a steep hill between the local mountainside houses, only a 15-minute walk from the local beach. Our facilities include; spacious shala with mountain & sea views, plant based restaurant, rooftop relaxation area with jacuzzi, zen garden, outdoor bathtubs, lounge area and a spa area.
Sustainability and taking care of the earth is one of Mahakala’s main values. Our kitchen is fully plant based with a no waste policy, we our grow food in our own organic garden and source the remaining from local organic farms, we source all of our water from the mountain springs, have a bioseptic sewage system, use solar to power our hot water system and have also created our own recycling and compost system. Additionally, we have decided to put our profits into building a conservation project in hopes to conserve the beautiful Buljarica Cove which serves as a sanctuary for the local wildlife.

OUR PLANT BASED CUISINE
Mahakala’s nutritious vegan food is wholesome, fresh and always homemade. At each buffet, we offer a number of dishes from freshly made pastries to salads made of homegrown vegetables to ensure there is always something for everyone. There are no complicated detox programs, just nutritious food created with love. To ensure a balanced vegan diet the menu is curated my Dr Vesna Lemm, a detox & nutrition specialist.
Our main aim is to share practical information and knowledge about healthy lifestyle choices and nutrition with our guests. Thus, during each meal, we teach our guests the nutritional content of the meal followed by meaningful health tips that they can implement at home. During the retreat, you will also have the chance to participate in a fermentation workshop where you will learn to ferment vegetables yourself.
We offer 2 daily homemade vegan buffets. Our meal times are based on a powerful intermittent fasting philosophy (our favourite health tip!). This involves two highly nutritious meals per day (served at 9:30 and 17:00).
CONNECTING BACK TO NATURE
At Mahakala, we believe that reconnecting with nature is key to our health and inner happiness. The raw and wild Montenegrin nature offers an opportunity to practise this. Immerse yourself in the healing energy of nature and explore this beautiful country by hiking along breath-taking walking trails, lush hills and valleys, or go for a swim in the crystal clear sea to explore beautiful hidden caves.

HOW TO GET HERE
We recommend booking a flight that arrives at Podgorica Airport (TGD). There is a free shuttle for our guests from Podgorica Airport (TGD) that leaves the airport on Sundays at 15:00 and leaves back to the airport from Mahakala Retreat at 12:00 p.m. the following Sunday. There is only one shuttle per week.
If you are not able to fly into Podgorica, there is also another airport in Tivat. You can take a taxi from Tivat airport to our center for around 40 euros. You may also be able to travel by bus, which may be slightly cheaper. It is also possible to come from Dubrovnik airport. It usually costs around 100€ by taxi.

Yes, everyone is welcome to join this retreat, no previous experience is needed. Our teachers adjust different practices to all levels. This is a perfect retreat for getting in touch with your body and mind, and healing yourself from inside out.
